Meet Savannah Courteau, Catholic Counseling Intern

Savannah is a candidate for her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University in Sterling, VA, and is currently working as an intern at Novare Counseling Center. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has been passionate about the healing that counseling can offer to people since her junior year of high school.

Savannah’s view of every person is not defined by the problems they bring to therapy or the failures and flaws they may find in themselves, but rather, she works with the notion that every person she encounters has goodness, potential, and the capacity for flourishing. This view of the wholeness of the person has taught her about what healing can look like in therapy, how to collaborate with clients to identify the needs they have, and the transformative power of instilling hope into the lives of every person.

Savannah is particularly grateful to have the opportunity to walk the path of healing through counseling with those who practice the Catholic faith. The idea that the person is whole, dignified, and capable of both flourishing and healing aligns well with the teachings of Catholicism, and as a Catholic herself, the therapeutic process may be aided by that shared belief system.

Savannah is interested in a wide variety of topics including but not limited to grief/loss, depression, anxiety, stress management, self-esteem, marital issues, coping mechanisms such as perfectionism and procrastination, eating disorders, addiction, relationships, and bullying.

Savannah is available to see clients starting on June 5th. If interested in scheduling, please call 612-424-9983.
