Meet Karin Vaccaro, Catholic Counseling Intern

Karin is a counseling intern at Novare, currently completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Prior to her current graduate studies, she studied music and Spanish at St. Olaf College and earned a law degree from the University of Minnesota.

Karin practiced law for a few years before leaving her career to become a stay-at-home mom. When her children grew older, she worked as a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) at Hennepin Healthcare in downtown Minneapolis. She worked in the burn unit, the cancer center, the ICUs, the pediatric floor, and many other units throughout the hospital. Karin found meaningful ways to connect with her patients and bring them comfort in the most difficult moments of their lives. Karin found her work at the hospital fulfilling, but wanted to improve her ability to help people by developing counseling skills.

Karin seeks to establish a strong therapeutic alliance with her clients. She sees the relationship as a sacred space where connection and healing are possible. She wants to collaborate with her clients on their journey toward well-being and flourishing. Karin’s broad clinical interests include working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, grief, those who are recovering from trauma, those who live with chronic illness, those who are working through life transitions, and those who struggle with relationships.
