Meet Erin Murphy, Catholic Counselor
Erin received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University in Sterling, Virginia and is currently working towards licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). She graduated summa cum laude from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s in Classical Studies and has previously worked in ministries supporting marriage and family life.
Some may seek counseling for a chronic struggle and others are looking for tools and support during an unexpected life event. Rather than reducing the person to a problem that needs to be fixed, Erin works collaboratively with clients to identify their goals and work towards greater personal and relational fulfillment.
While she enjoys accompanying people from any religious background or those who do not practice a faith, Erin has found that for Catholics, in particular, having a therapist who understands and supports their worldview and belief system aids in the therapeutic process.
Erin’s interests include grief and loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death, depression, anxiety, marital separation/divorce, and trauma. Erin is trained in EMDR, which is an evidence-based tool for processing a spectrum of traumatic experiences.
